Hebbarieh is a
Small beautiful, Quite village located in South Lebanon
at the west Side of
Haramoun Mountain, its population
is about 6000, only half of the citizens live in the village
while the rest reside in the cities mostly Beirut.
The name of
Hebbarieh, according to history, was
derived from an ancient city called "Hover" which was
located in the same area where the ruins and remains of this
city indicates the importance of this geographic location of
Hebbarieh.
Hebbarieh is in Caza of
Hasbaya, It is 750m
above sea level.
The land of Hebarieh reaches the syrian and palestine
borders near the golan heights.
Hebbarieh Location is unique, the beautiful nature and the
mountains that surround it makes hebbarieh the green heaven
as the UNIFIL norway UN Soldiers Used to call it, The deep
valleys and the high mountains that surrounds the village
from all side gives a variety of natural
views that are rarely found in other places.
The weather in winter is cold due to it's location near
haramon mountain and nice neutral in summer which makes the
hebbarieh residencein beirut visit's it every week.
Hebbarieh is highly rich in monuments, most famous of
which is The Roman Tower known as "The Temple of Hover".
Other important monuments are Borj kssair, Mtallien Tower,
and many other ruins of many palaces that belong to
different historical periods and are still in good shape,
but waiting for more governmental attention to be taken care
of.
Like many other villages in South Lebanon,
Hebbarieh
suffered from the Israeli occupation which resulted in the
destruction of a big part of the village.
The Israeli occupation for South Lebanon
made the young men run away from the obligatory service in Lahed Army, which was loyal to Israel.
Most of the people in
Hebbarieh earn their living
from plantations, mainly olive trees some of which go back
to the Roman Period, as well as many other trees like pine,
grapes, figs, nuts and vegetables, which counts more than
750,000 tree among all kinds.
Hebbarieh is in Arqoob group of villages it Borders
Shwaya from north,
Kfarhamam from South,
Chebaa from East ,
Fardiiss from west,
Kfar Shuba from South East,
Ebel Elsaqi from
south west and
ain Jarfa from
north west.
Hebbarieh consist of five sections:
