 History 

HistoryOld Hebbarieh is an ancient Town buried under the ground, it’s history returns to the roman periods and some are before the Romans, where the people of this town use to visit the temple (Borej) located in the middle of the village where they use to worship the god of sun.

Old hebbarieh was destroyed during the past wars or from the earthquakes which hits this area among its long history.

Also hebbarieh considered as a passage way for Jesus during the trip to Palestine when he reach the top of Haramoun Mountain for praying.

During the Islamic age Hebbarieh was very important due to it’s location on the haramon mountain side and salah el-deen elayoubi and his soldiers pass to liberate Palestine as many of hebbarieh mans join his troops, and after they liberate alqodss some of his troops married & settled in hebbarieh , also many of the martyrs was buried in the village in a place known know as the martyrs tree(Koboor alshohadaaa).

In the 18th Century during the battles between al-maanieen and al-shahabieen the last brings fighters from east jordan and Syria to assist them against al-maanieen, where they settle in the village after the battles.

After the war end some of their martyrs where buried in the Village land, so their relatives lived in hebbarieh to stay close to the graves.

Hebbarieh modern history is shining, after the invading of south Lebanon by Israel, many of Hebbarieh youth carry weapons and fight the occupation, many of them join the existed parties to fight against Israel and to be proud of this resistance which last for 30 years with many martyrs in several occasions, destroying a big part of the village and results that the occupation capture many of the village youth putting them in Jail (Khiam Jail) ,forcing Families to departure their homes & Lands and others to run away from obligatory service in lahed army which was loyal to Israel.

This Occupation force many of the Village inhabitants to leave hebbarieh and leave Lebanon to be scattered all over the world.
